Description and Additional Information

Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs) are the most common newborn defect in the US, affecting 1 in 100 babies, with rates in New Mexico being slightly higher. Hole in the Heart develops programs to support the timely detection of CHDs. Building Your Parental Toolbox and Watch Their Hearts is a community outreach initiative created to help parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers recognize the warning signs of congenital heart defects (CHD) that may be missed in newborns, children and young adults. Both initiatives are online resources designed to be accessible, shareable, and easy to understand for communities across New Mexico. *Families are encouraged to discuss concerns with a qualified healthcare provider and seek further evaluation when symptoms persist.
