First Born Program of Los Alamos is a free, research-based home visiting service for parents and caregivers of children from pregnancy through age 5. The program provides relationship-centered support with trained home visitors starting during prenatal care and continuing through age 3 or until family goals are achieved. Services include comprehensive education on child development, lactation counseling, infant massage techniques, car seat safety, baby wearing guidance, CPR training, and holistic sleep coaching. The program offers lactation support and breastfeeding help, community playdates for parent connection, compassionate listening and emotional support, bonding activities, healthy communication strategies, and connection to community resources. Periodic screenings for depression, domestic violence, and safety are included. All materials are culturally, ethnically, and racially sensitive. Weekly Friday drop-ins provide opportunities for parents to ask questions about breastfeeding, sleep, feeding, and other parenting concerns.
